About OzChild

OzChild’s mission is to protect and heal children and young people experiencing abuse, neglect or family violence and prevent future trauma by strengthening families, to achieve our vision of a society in which all children live safely in a caring environment and reach their full potential.

The objective of OzChild is to service the needs of children and young people experiencing or at risk of abuse, neglect and/or family violence. Since 1851, OzChild has provided out-of-home-care, therapeutic healing for childhood trauma, pathways to and support in education and strengthening services for families at risk of breaking down. OzChild ensures that their carers can provide sustainable and effective support to children by providing training, support and resources through evidence-based and trauma-informed practice. As leaders in the sector, OzChild advocates for children across multiple levels of government and relevant bodies.

OzChild specialises in providing out-of-home-care and family support services. Their suite of programs includes:

  • Foster care
  • Kinship care
  • Family support services
  • Education services
  • Disability support services

On any given night OzChild makes sure over 300 Victorian children have a safe place to sleep, helping over 6,000 children, young people and families each year.
